"Go Arrow" Scholarship Award
Kaylee will pursue a degree in Elementary Education this fall. She is a highly motivated young woman whose goal is to serve others as an educator. While at CHS, Kaylee has maintained a stellar academic record while being involved with many extracurricular activities, as well serving her community at large through an extensive list of organizations and events. Kaylee has assisted and observed as a student-teacher in kindergarten and elementary classroom settings over the past several years. She has supplemented these experiences with responsibilities as a counselor and activities director at a Christian summer camp for two years. Kaylee said that her wealth of community and church-related volunteering opportunities has taught her “how to be a good leader and that great leaders know how to encourage others, be responsible, accept criticism, stay calm, and be resilient.” One of Kaylee’s teachers described her as “one of the most mature and responsible students I have taught” and that “she will make an excellent teacher.”

Kaylee will enroll at Mississippi College this fall as she seeks a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Pursuing a career in the medical field has been Kaylee’s desire “for as long as I can remember.” Kaylee has maintained an enviable 4.0 GPA while being involved in many extracurricular activities at CHS including an array of sports, music, and academic engagement, as well as a long list of volunteer work at CHS and in the Clinton community. Kaylee plans to become an RN and work as a labor and delivery nurse. She has also considered earning a Master’s degree on the way to becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Self-described as “faithful, academically driven, and involved,” she indicated that family and faith have always been very important to her. She said that “I do my best to be a well-rounded individual while assuring God is at the center of my life.” One of Kaylee’s teachers described her as “one of the best of the best” and someone who “pushes herself to reach the highest standard.”
John S. Weatherly Accounting Award
Will is the 2023 John S. Weatherly Accounting Excellence Award winner. Will plans to enroll at Mississippi College in the fall in the School of Business. His longer-term plans include attending law school and working as a sports lawyer. Will has maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking numerous Advanced Placement and College-level classes. His musical talents have included various bands at CHS in addition to serving in his church’s orchestra and their special presentations. In addition to excelling in these ways, he also found time to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout and serve as a leader in his Boy Scout Troop. One of Will’s teacher’s described him as “driven, intelligent, and dedicated” and someone who “has taken his education very seriously and has high expectations for his future – someone who will continue to set academics as a priority in college.”
Ida Hope Scholarship Award
Michael is the 2023 scholarship recipient. He has maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking various AP Classes. Michael will be attending Mississippi State University majoring in Broadcast Journalism. After college, he hopes to work as a sports analyst for a local news network with the ultimate goal of being part of a national sports broadcasting company. One of Michael’s teachers described him as “an excellent student” who “is always attentive and completes his work on time.” Another reference said that he is “one of the most exceptional students I have encountered during the time that I have known him.”
